Experiential Mental Health Counseling

01

Nature-Based Counseling

At BETC, our nature-based counseling integrates the healing power of the outdoors with therapeutic practices. Through mindful engagement with nature, movement, and experiential activities, clients are guided to deepen self-awareness, reduce anxiety, and enhance emotional well-being. Sessions may involve walking, reflecting in natural settings, or participating in outdoor experiential exercises, allowing for personal growth and healing in connection with the environment.

02

Office Based Counseling

Our office-based counseling provides a safe, supportive environment for clients to explore personal challenges and growth. Using experiential methods such as Internal Family Systems, we help individuals address issues such as anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles. Sessions are tailored to each client's needs, offering a grounded and focused space for introspection, emotional healing, and skill-building.

03

Adventure Based Counseling

Our adventure-based counseling takes nature therapy to the next level by combining formal outdoor activities with therapeutic goals. Whether paddling, climbing, or embarking on a peak ascent, these experiences challenge individuals to push their limits, build resilience, and foster personal growth. Adventure-based sessions are designed to cultivate self-confidence, enhance problem-solving skills, and deepen emotional insight, all within the supportive framework of a therapeutic relationship. Each journey is carefully structured to align with the client’s goals, promoting transformation through connection with both nature and self.

04

Group Counseling

Group counseling at the Boise Experiential Therapy Collective offers a dynamic space for healing and connection, whether in an office, nature-based, or adventure setting. Clients benefit from shared experiences, mutual support, and diverse perspectives as they work through personal challenges together. Group sessions encourage emotional expression, relational growth, and collective problem-solving, all within a therapeutic environment that fosters trust and community. Tailored to the group’s goals, these sessions can take place indoors or outdoors, enriching the experience with the unique benefits of each setting.

Ceremony and Rites of Passage

01

Celebrations and Life Transitions

At BETC, we offer personalized consultations for rites of passage and ceremonies that mark significant life transitions, such as weddings, births, graduations, healing from major illnesses, sobriety milestones, etc. Our team works closely with individuals, couples, and families to co-create meaningful, intentional rituals and ceremonies that honor these moments of transformation. Through mindful planning and integration of personal values, and integration of culture and ancestry we help craft ceremonies that celebrate growth, healing, and new beginnings, ensuring each event is both deeply personal and spiritually enriching.

02

Grief and Loss

We also offer compassionate guidance in creating ceremonies to honor and navigate the profound experiences of grief and loss. Whether for memorials, funerals, terminal/chronic illness, job loss, or personal rites of healing, we work with individuals and families to design meaningful rituals that provide space for remembrance, mourning, and emotional expression. Our approach helps transform loss into a process of honoring life, offering support through mindful, intentional ceremonies that foster connection, healing, and closure during times of transition.

Training and Education

01

Experiential Counseling

Our experiential training programs at BETC equip therapists and professionals with the tools to integrate experiential approaches, including nature-based, adventure, and parts-work therapies, into their practice. Participants learn how to facilitate healing through outdoor environments, structured activities, and parts-based self-reflection. Training emphasizes hands-on learning and the therapeutic use of both nature and movement, providing practical skills to guide clients through personal growth, emotional integration, and transformation. Whether you're new to experiential therapy or looking to deepen your practice, our programs offer a comprehensive, immersive learning experience.

02

Social Justice and Decolonization in Mental Health

BETC offers specialized trainings on social justice and the decolonization of community mental health. These programs focus on building cultural competence, helping professionals and business understand systemic inequalities that impact mental health. We explore decolonized practices that honor diverse cultural traditions and challenge Western-centric approaches to healing. Through education on identity, privilege, power dynamics, and historical trauma, participants learn how to provide more inclusive, respectful care. Our trainings empower community programs to tap into culturally rooted practices, promoting equity, and communal healing.

03

Mental Health in the Workplace

BETC offers tailored services for workplace environments, focusing on building stronger teams, enhancing mental health culture in the workplace, and fostering deeper connections among employees. Our experiential workshops help teams improve communication, collaboration, and problem-solving through engaging, hands-on activities. We also provide training on creating a supportive mental health culture, addressing communal stress and burnout. Through nature-based and mindfulness practices, we guide employees in reconnecting with their work, finding purpose, and cultivating healthier relationships with coworkers, leading to a more resilient, productive, and cohesive workplace.

Community Building

01

Groups and Gatherings

At BETC, our community-based groups and gatherings are designed to foster connection, healing, and growth among individuals seeking belonging and purpose. These intentional gatherings bring together diverse voices and experiences, creating a supportive space for sharing, learning, and collaborative action. . Our aim is to cultivate a strong sense of community that empowers individuals to heal together, support one another, and engage in meaningful actions that enhance collective well-being. Check out current and upcoming groups in the groups and events page.

02

Advocacy and Communal Healing

At BETC, we are committed to promoting social justice and collective well-being through our advocacy and communal healing services. We work to amplify marginalized voices, raise awareness about mental health issues, and foster systemic change within the community. Our communal healing initiatives create safe spaces for individuals to share their experiences, process grief, and build resilience together. Through workshops, support groups, and collaborative events, we empower participants to engage in advocacy efforts, nurturing a sense of agency and community solidarity. Our approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of individual and collective healing, promoting a healthier, more just society for all.

03

The Community Builders Assistance Program at the Boise Experiential Therapy Collective offers reduced-price temporary counseling plans for community members dedicated to enhancing wellness and social justice in the valley. This initiative supports volunteers from local organizations, as well as low-wage workers at safe community spaces such as coffee shops, music programs, and outdoor guiding services. We recognize the vital role these individuals play in fostering a healthy community and provide accessible mental health support to help them thrive. By participating in this program, community builders can access counseling services that promote their well-being, enabling them to continue their important work with resilience and purpose. Reach out to ask if this program would benefit your organization.

We are born expecting what our deep-time ancestors experienced as their birthright, the container of the village. We are born expecting a rich and sensuous relationship with the earth and communal rituals of celebration, grief, and healing that keeps us in connection with the sacred
